Gulfship
Since its inception in April 2006, Gulfship has established itself as a world-class model of shipbuilding efficiency. Located on 37 acres in the Bernard Bayou Industrial Park in Gulfport, Mississippi, the facility is bounded by the Industrial Seaway to its south and Glascock Drive to its north. Harrison County and Mississippi state officials touted the shipyard’s impact on the region’s economic development efforts in the bleak months that followed the catastrophic damage inflicted by Hurricane Katrina in August 2005. The shipyard’s first new construction efforts resulted in a series of true tractor tugs in support of LNG receiving terminals off the Louisiana and Texas coasts.
