Minimum Requirements
- Minimum 3.5 years of ROV operator experience is required
- High school diploma or equivalent/university or technical training
- Formal ROV operator training
- Experience and skills in electronic/electrical/mechanical/hydraulics
- Nominally 180 days as a senior pilot technician with completed assessments
- Completed competencies as pilot technician I
- Completed competencies as senior pilot technician
- Completed leadership and personal development training
- Current, valid offshore medical certificate
- Current certificate in an offshore survival course suitable for geographical area of work
- Must pass pre-employment physical, drug screen and background check
- Subject to random drug screening throughout employment
- Capable of passing HUET/BOSIET certifications
Job Description
The ROV supervisor is expected to maintain a professional appearance and disposition at all times, exhibiting professional courtesy whenever dealing with co-workers and/or other persons involved with job project. The ROV supervisor will:
- Assist ROV superintendents in determining field solutions and resolving project barriers.
- Adhere to all C-Innovation policies and procedures.
- Foster a professional and safe work environment.
- Maintain, repair and troubleshoot ROV systems.
- Observe safe working practices and adhere to mechanical/electrical principles and industry standards.
- Work independently or as a member of a team.
- Carry out assigned administrative duties in a timely manner.
- Perform piloting, navigation and log keeping.
- Perform routine and preventative maintenance, as well as troubleshoot and give input to field solutions.
- Establish priorities and accomplish objectives.
- Read and generate schematics and perform other related duties as required.
- Strive to learn new technical and operational issues while on the job.
- Foster the mentoring of ROV technicians in the field.
- Report to the ROV superintendent while on board the installation or report to the operations manager, operations coordinator and/or personnel logistics department while on shore.
- Be capable of the launch and recovery of the ROV system.
- Perform all duties within the safe operating parameters for the handling system.
- Ensure that the ROV is checked before and after a dive in accordance with relevant pre- and post-dive check lists.
- Follow lock out and tag out procedures in accordance with C-Innovation policies.
- Perform weekly and monthly system maintenance.
- Maintain a clean and presentable workspace.
- Be adequate in experience of the work.
- Have an adequate understanding of the system being worked on, as well as practical experience of that class of system.
- Be aware of the hazards that may arise during the work, as well as the precautions that need to be taken.
- Have the ability to recognize whether it is safe for work to continue at all times.
- Understand and operate within the established company HSE policies and operating standards.
- Operate the ROV system as directed by the system superintendent.
- Be familiar with all relevant task procedures, ensuring operations and data recording are carried out correctly.
- Carry out planned maintenance and repairs on the ROVs and associated equipment as required.
- Be willing to work offshore in harsh weather environments on a rotation or call-out basis.
- Be responsible for the repair, maintenance and operation of the ROV umbilical cable handling system (winch and hydraulic power unit).
- Be responsible for the repair and maintenance of the ROV hydraulic and mechanical systems.
- Maintain the mechanical spares shipboard inventory.
- Be aware of legislation/guidance, e.g. reporting accidents and managing safety of team on night shifts.
- Demonstrate a commitment to safety by setting an example on safety issues and demonstrating safety leadership to subordinates and work colleagues.
- Communicate safety information to team members when needed.
- Effectively use the company safety management system.
- Have a knowledge of emergency procedures.
- Manage team members during an emergency.
- Have a knowledge of the ROV team members' roles and responsibilities.
- Communicate effectively with other team members.
- Be able to identify hazards that may arise during a maintenance activity.
- Coordinate the upkeep of the ROV system with planned maintenance schedules.
- Demonstrate the ability of fault finding and general maintenance of ROV control and navigation systems.
- Be capable of assessing weather conditions and operational parameters for safe ROV operations.
- Be capable of navigating the ROV to the work site in most conditions.
- Be able to perform all general manipulator duties.
- Be able to carry out electrical and mechanical umbilical terminations.
- Be capable of undertaking trade specialist tasks.
- Be able to coordinate dive records, video logs and audio dubbing.
- Be familiar with the correct use of the company format for report writing.
- Have proven writing skills.
- Be capable of pro-active involvement with projected work scopes to meet client requirements.
- Have a thorough understanding of underwater operations and equipment.
- Train/assess pilot technicians grades I and II and senior pilot technicians.
- Organize and manage the offshore operations team members.
- Keep records up to date.
- Prepare formal procedures.
- Interface effectively with clients.
