Facility Background
North American Shipbuilding (NAS) was founded in Larose, Louisiana, in 1974, and has built more specialized offshore vessels than any other shipyard in the world. Designing and constructing vessels only for the Edison Chouest Offshore family of companies, NAS built the first U.S. Antarctic icebreaking research vessel, the largest and most powerful anchor handling vessel in the U.S. fleet, the first dynamically positioned vessel in the U.S. fleet, the world's first floating production system installation vessel, and the largest water throw capacity vessel in the U.S. fleet. NAS consistently ranks among the finest shipyards in the world, currently employing over 500 in skilled positions. NAS has a formal welding training program and on-the-job apprenticeship training for all other trades. The shipyard's health and safety program is second to none, paying tens of thousands of dollars to shipyard workers in cash safety bonuses every quarter. NAS also provides an on-site housing facility, a medical clinic, and a large, modern cafeteria to accommodate its workers.

Compensation

NAS offers stable employment in a very volatile industry. We are not a contract outfit and only conduct in-house work. For the engineering department, we prefer direct-hire employment. Pay will be discussed at the time of interview. Our pay is commensurate with experience and very competitive with the rest of the industry. Benefits include:

  • short-term disability (paid by employer)
  • long-term disability
  • dental insurance (Delta Dental)
